Inspired Student Videos

As a part of preparation for our music video, we had too look at previous students msuic videos on Youtube they had created. I watched many of them and found a few good, inspiring ones and a few which did not appeal to me in certain ways. These music videos gave me some ideas of what sort of locations and genre of songs i would like to use when I create my music video.

This is a music video i found that was very effective in many ways. This video waas graded an A and i thought it was one of the best amongst the others I have watched.
The song chosen was great. it had good beats to it and the shots had changed as soon as the beats had come in. They had used a variety of locations and each hot from the locations were different which kept the audience entertained.
Moreover, the lyrics of the song fit very well with the visuals of the music video and the music sync was done perfectly which made it even better as a music video itself.

This is also another music video which has been done previously which i found very effective due to all off the elements of the music video. The song chosen was tricky as it had a bit of rap in there, but the group pulled it off well with no mistake and the lip sync was perfect with no mistakes.
Moreover, although there was only a few locations used, they used the shots wisely and there was something different going on each shot which entertained the audience more than it would have without it.

This is a music video dont by a group of girls who have been inspired by Beyonce. This video was definetely a challenge as not many people use a Beyonce song as theres, due to the fact it may be 'inapproriate' but the group managed to do extremely well in it.
Towards the end, the girls change into an army uniform which is also a challenge showing they are not only representin typical girls, but a different side to them. I thought the use of costume and Mis- en- scene was very effective and the song chhoice was great.

Inspired Videos

As me and my group were unsure about the genre of the song we were going to choose, we decided it would be between pop and rock. We had a few ideas in mind, but watching many Youtube videos of both genreshas inspired me a lot about which genre i want to go with and what type of song i wanted to do.

This is a music video from Calvin Harris and Disciples called 'How deep is your love'. This is a pop song which inspired me and my group to do a pop song as it was a great song which would have been easy to do as a music video with its large amount of beats and the tone of the music.
This song was a potential song that me and my group were going to do, however we found it may not be the best song as it would be a bit hard to make a storyline out of the video having to use a variery of shots which would have been a bit difficult for us. In general, this music video was very inspiring. After listening to the song and watching the music video, a pop song was definitely a strong idea we had.

This is another song which was very inspiring as a group. This is a song called 'My Immortal' by a group called Evanescence which is an American rock band.
This song inspired my group as we were usure between pop and rock. this is a more slow, calm and peaceful song compared to the previous song. We as a group came up with many ideas for this song includng using flashbacks in black and white, going to central London to film next to a waterfall to ctreate a calm atmosphere which flows with the tone of the music. however after discussing it amongst ourselves and teachers, we dcided it may not be the best of songs as it would be very hard for us as a group to come up with different shots to keep the audience entertained with a simple, slow song like this one.

This song is by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea called 'Problem'. This is also another pop/ rap song which inspired me as i was looking for a pop song which would be easy to work with and had clear lyrics which would be able to mime easily.
I also had many ideas i could have used in the music video if i was to use this song. I also had greate locations i could have used but the only problem was that there was a male voice in it whoch would be a bit difficult as we did not have any males who were willing to participate in our video. Other than that, this was a great video and in general would have been a potential for me and my group.

Lip Sync Excercise

As a group, me and 3 other members (Aleeza, Anisa and Diana) created a lip sync task as instructed by my teacher. We first had to allocate a person in the group to be the main person in the 20 second video to do the lip sync who was Anisa . We later had to find a song which she had to mime to fit in the lip sync excercise and after searching for an easy, perfect song we decided to go with Taylor Swift- Wildest Dreams.

We decided to go with Taylor Swift as she is a well known artist, loved my many including all of the members of my group. Her song was easy to learn and remember and the words were clear enough to mime and later sync the song into our own video.
The time allocated to do this tak was 2 hours, which we managed to film and edit within that time. As a group we came up with 3 locations to film our 20 second lip sync excercise. The locations we chose were the school fields, the stage in the main hall and the stairs outside Private Study. These locations were convinient and a perfect place to film as it fit well with the lyrics of the song and similar to the music video. In terms of props, we adopted the idea of the main character wearing a dress and makeup, as the video shows Taylor Swift dressed up on set, in a dress, makeup and heels and therefore incorporated it in our own video. The filming only took us an hour altogether, and we used a variety of shots such as a close up, mid shot and a long shot from different angles.
After filming, we moved straight onto editing which also took us an hour. We edited on Final Cut which was not difficult for us as we had previous experience from it. However, what we found difficult and what was very time consuming was cutting out the end of the shot to embed it with the next shot. We managed to sync the song into the video and it fit perfectly ready to show to the teacher and the rest of the class.
