Website Update 3

This is a final update to my website. I have changed the colour of the name of the artist to a turquoise blue colour as i thought this colour would be evident in all pages regardless of the background. All pages have been completed.

Website Update 2

This is a second update to my website. I have added a background to the gallery page which adds a lot of colour and enthusiasm to my website. Having background images like this is common on other artists website, hence why I added it on my website to reinforce a pop genre website.

Website Update 1

This is an update to the website I am creating. So far, I have added a background colour which is a pastel purple colour. I have decided to use this colour because a pop genre website usually has a bright, pastel colour background to it. The top right hand corner have links to Harley Quinn's Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. The name of the artist is in a dark purple colour so it stand out on the pastel purple background. I have also created tabs for different pages such as; about me, videos, gallery, music, shop and tour dates.

Pop Website Research 2

Ellie Goulding

This is the opening page to Ellie Goulding's official website. Like any other pop artists website, this website is very eye-catching and bright with vibrant colours. The name of he artist is written in big, bold writing so fans know they are on her official website page. Also, a large sized image of the pop star is in the top right hand corner of the first page which is typical on a pop artists website. the image is of Ellie wearing a furry coat with no clothing underneath which shows voyeurism as common in her music video and in the videos of many other pop artists.

Beneath the title of the artists name, are links to where Ellie's music can be downloaded from. Having these links gives fans easy access to being able to download her music, which promotes her music more. As well as her music, Ellie allows her fans to have easy access for the tickets for her 2016 tour, also increasing purchases and sales.

The top right hand corner consists of links for Ellie's social media page which allows her fans to go straight onto her social media to support and enjoy her day to day activities.

The bar at the top have tabs which takes users to other pages she has on her website.

When scrolling down, you will come across this page which consists of a background image of the pop star and the foreground of dates and names of her tour an the location of it along with an option to purchase tickets o he right hand side, This gives fans information about any live tours and the option to buy tickets if they would like to.

These are simply a variety of images of Ellie Goulding and images of her album covers which are there on her website for her fans to see.

A video of her latest music video is also available beneath the images which allows fans to check out her latest music video which they may like and choose to download after.

Pop Website Research 1

Katy Perry

When opening the first page of Katy Perry's website, this is what appears. It is an image of the artist herself with the background consisting of a bright sun and light clouds along with some flowers on the left had side. This is a very good image to have for an opening page of a website for a pop artists as the pop genre is typically mean to be happy, bright and colourful.

The social media links on the top right hand corner of the opening page is a good thing to have on an opening page as it allows fans to have easy access to the social media pages of Katy Perry which strengthens the relationship between the artists and her fans as they are aware of her day to day activities.

The '#KATYPWTL' which is on the opening page opens up to this page above. This is a page which allows fans to pre book tickets for a love world tour. Having this page on a website allows easy navigation for the users/fans, increasing the number of tickets sold from Katy's tour. Many pop artists have regular tours and having this on their website increases sales and strengthens the bond between her and her fan.

These are tabs on the main opening page which opens up to several other pages n the website. Having this again gives easy access for the users to go to other pages on the website which they could explore to gain a better understanding about the artists and the music she provides of a pop genre,

Pop Website Research 3

Rihanna

This is the opening page to Rihanna's website which is very basic as it has the name of the artist and states her current album in store now. This is in fact a link which takes fans to iTunes where her music is available to download. Unlike other pop websites, the colours on this is not vibrant but in fact quite dull which is not quite typical for a pop artists.

The link at the top and the bottom of the page takes users onto the main website of the artists.

This is the page which the link on the above takes users to. It consists of just images of Rihanna which many pop websites consists of. I will be using this idea when creating my own website. On the left hand side there are tabs which allows fans to see images, videos, to shop and when her tour dates are along with purchasing any tickets for tours. Beneath are links to Rihanna's social media which allows fans to see the pop artists day to day activities.

Final Digipak

Final Digipak

Front Cover

This is the final front cover for my digipak. I have decide to keep it simple with an image of the artist, the name of the artist and the name of the album as this is what most pop artist do for their album cover.

CD

This is the final design for the CD of my digipak. I have decided to adopt the idea of having a pastel colour background from other pop artists CD's. To add a little design and make it look like an actual CD, I have added lines along the bottom of the CD as well as the name of the artist and album at the top.

Middle Panel

The inside cover of my digipak which is the second panel is just an image of the artist looking cheeky at the camera. I have decided to do this as the inspiration I have looked at (Ariana Grande) also had an image of her next to the CD.

Final Back Cover

This is the final back cover for my digipak. I have kept background as a pastel purple with bold, dark writing consisting of the list of tracks within the album. To make it look like a back cover, I have added a bar code and the name of the company which signed on my singer and published her music. A copyright act has also been added as a music legislation.

Digipak Inspiration 3

Digipak Inspiration 3- Katy Perry- Teenage dream

The front cover of the Teenage Dream digipak has given me inspiration as it has the name of the artist and the name of the album in funky pop writing. This is what i would like when i create my own digipak. Also, having the artists partially nude promotes the use of voyeurism- a common aspect used in pop music especially in a Katy Perry music video.

This is the CD for the digipak- teenage dream by Katy Perry. It is not like a typical CD as t does not have the name of the artist nor the name of the album on it. This is something i would not do when creating my own digipak. This is because i would like to have the name of the album and artist on it as it is what a typical CD should look like.

The back of the album cover has the name of the tracks within the album along with the bar code on the side. This is what the back cover of any digipak should look like. I have taken inspiration from  as t s extremely colourful as a pop genre digipak should look like.

Digipak Inspiration 2

Digipak Inspiration 2- Ellie Goulding- Lights

This is the front cover of the album Lights by Ellie Goulding. This is a prime example of how the front cover of any digipak should look like. It has a close up image of the artist along with the name of the artist in the form of 'Lights' with the name of the album below it. The foreground of the star image has spots of pink and orange lights on it which reinforces the name of the album.
This is the CD for the album Lights. This is not how i would create my CD if i were to do create this digipak. Although the colour is a bright yellow colour which reinforces a pop genre, it is too bold with no other colour contrasting it. It has the name of the artist and the name of the album which is what a typical CD should look like.
The back cover of the album 'Lights' is what a digipak should look like. This is because it has the bar code clearly on the top, with the tracks of the album listed below. It also has a faded image of spot lights which reinforces the name of the of the album. This as inspired me as it is what a pop genre digipak should look like and i would like mine o look sparkly and glittery like that.

Digipak Inspiration 1

Digipak Inspiration 1- Taylor Swift- Red

This is the front cover of the digipak for Taylor swifts album- Red. This has inspired me for when i create my own digipak as it as the full qualities of a front cover. This includes the name of the album in big so i is evident what the nae is along with he artists name below to show which artist sings it. The background colour red has been used cleverly reinforcing the name o the album. Also, having a close up image of Taylor swift faded with the background colour has been used well to show a mix o both the name of the album and the singer who sings it.

This is the CD inside the digipak. It again has the name of the album and the name of the artist in the color red. The font of the album name shows it is from a pop genre and not an RnB or a rock genre as it is smooth and simple. Th use of red stripes and the album name and artists name being red has cleverly been used reinforcing the name of the album.

The back cover of the Taylor Swift digipak for her album 'Red' is a perfect example of how a back cover should be an this has inspired me for when I create my own digipak. This is because it has the name of the album in bold and in the color red- therefore reinforcing the name of the album. It also has a list of the tracks within the album as a typical back cover of a digipak should have.

Font

In order to create my digipak i must research into different fonts which portrays a pop genre. I will be using da font to create this. I have looked into the font used for different digipaks of a pop genre.

Firstly, Taylor Swifts album 'Red' has her title in the colour which reinforces the name of the album. I think that was a great idea and a good use of colour. It it written in a clear, bold font which most pop genre album titles consists of. Overall, the colors work well together and the font is legible.

Secondly is Ellie Gouldings album- Lights. The font used clearly shows a glow which indicates light and matches the name of the album. I think having a black background and a simple, white title with a glow around it works really well together and gives it a sophisticated end product. This has given me inspiration for when i create my own font as using lights/sparkles/glows works well in a pop genre and would work extremely well with my front cover.

Lastly is the font for Katy Perry's 'teenage Dream'. This portrays a different element to a pop genre as shown above. This font has a more funky, curvy look to it which is also suitable for a pop genre digipak title. I think the font is great and the colours work well together. However, i personally would not use this sort of font for my digipak as my theme is a more sophisticated look surrounded with lights.

Below are 3 fonts i have chosen which may be a possibility for the titles of my digipak:

These fonts have a pop characteristics in them and may be possibilities for when creating my own digipak.
